Residue sampling and inspection

In the context of the Procedure of the (Re-)Classification of Products, Schouten Certification can take samples or carry out inspections for transport companies that request it, to determine the residue-contamination or the absence thereof.

The transport company that wishes to apply, must comply with the following additional requirements:

  • The company must be able to prove that the to-be-sampled cargo spaces is part of the quality assurance system that complies with feed regulations
  • The company must be able to demonstrate what cargo was transported the last ten times the cargo compartment was used
  • The company must be able to demonstrate which cleaning has been done to the cargo compartment after each of the ten past cargoes
  • The company will, on request, provide additional information about the type and properties of the past ten cargoes.

After inspection and sampling, you receive a certificate with which you can prove that your cargo compartment can be used for animal feed again. The requirement is that the results of the analysis of the sample complies to the applicable GMP standards. The sampler will take into account the critical (low and high) contact points in a loading space:

  • Openings and transit points
  • Irregularities and joints in the structure
  • Cover material, valves, cover, hinges and reinforcements

During sampling, at least eight unique residue samples are taken from eight difference spots. The sample is sealed and send to Nutrilab, an ISO 17025 certified laboratory, for analysis of the residues and their concentrations.
